EV Charging Calculator
Calculate the charging time, cost, and energy use for any EV.

How long does it take to charge your EV at home? Well... quite a long time.
Unlike DC fast charging, charging at home is predictable, and this calculator will determine; time taken, how many kilometres added, and cost - for every EV model available.

What sort of charger do I need at home?
It entirely depends how many kilometres you do per day. If you drive 30 km a day, this equates to around 5-6 kWh of electricity. A 10 Amp cable (the one with the box on it) recharge that amount in about 2 and a half hours.
Many EV owners operate just fine like this. However, increasingly a number of manufacturers aren't supplying these cables. In this situation its better to go with a wall-mount charger; this will give you a multitude of options (load balancing, solar diversion).
Why is the amount of kWh used, more than what's in the battery?
The calculator takes charging loss into account.
When electricity leaves your house switchboard, some of it gets lost on the way before it goes into the battery.
- Normal thermal loss
- Losses in the AC-to-DC conversion in the car
- Some EVs may use some power to heat the battery
